Tea at the Empress, Victoria, Canada
Just shortly after I opened my tearoom in 1999, I went to Victoria, B.C. and stayed at the lovely Empress Hotel. Of course a visit to the Empress would not be complete without Afternoon Tea. What an exquisite experience. I ended up purchasing the tea cup as a lovely memento. It resides in my tearoom for you to enjoy. Visited once again in 2008, to celebrate the hotel's 100 Anniversary.

I loved the way they served their tea. You got to choose one or try them all...I tried them all.

Tea at Fortnum & Mason, London
Okay, this was a delight, and everything I expected from Afternoon Tea in London. We meet up with a friend from England and had a wonderful tea time. Fortnum and Mason has been around since 1707, the old building is exquisite, the exterior display windows full of everything tea, loved the winding wood staircases leading up to the fourth floor, the interior showcases and displays, tantalizing, and of course the Afternoon Tea.

Tea at Fortnum & Mason, London
The history and charm of Fortnum & Mason has made me appreciate the little bit of history we have back home. I feel privileged to continue this age old tradition of Afternoon Tea in our historic little neighborhood in Downtown, Honolulu. Did you know that Nuuanu Avenue has the most historic buildings left in all the Hawaiian Islands. I am thankful for my part of this living history.

Tea at the Florian, San Marco Square, Vince, Italy
Venice may not be best known for Afternoon Tea, but I did find a Tearoom...well kinda. However, we did attend an incredible concerto in an old church and although it filled up fast (first come, first served) we managed to get second row seats. My breathe was taken away as we felt the music from one of my favorite compsers Antonio Vivaldi. The concert was Four Season. I was in tears and could barely sit still. Venice was Vavaldi's home.

Tea at A.C. Perch's Tearoom, Copenhagen, Denmark
A.C. Perch’s teashop. Pictured with Stine, 5th generation owner. Her great, great grandfather opened in 1835, they are oldest and largest tea importer of tea in Denmark. In Stine’s words, “they are tea nerds.”

They have an incredible selection of high quality teas from all over the world. My choice was an African tea - Kenya Luxus FOP - flowery orange pekoe (FOP indicates that the tea contains the second and the third leaves of the pluck, the orange pekoe and the pekoe leaves).

When in Copenhagen make sure you have Afternoon Tea at Perch’s Tea Room, and tell Stine that Michele sent you.
